MEET DEMAND – THE RISE OF DELIVERY PARTNERSHIPS FOR CONVENIENCE & IMMEDIACY

In today’s world, consumers want instant gratification and have access to everything at their fingertips. According to Zion Market Research, the global On-Demand delivery market was estimated to be worth $15.19 billion in 2023 and is predicted to grow to $83.82 billion by 2032 with a CAGR of 20.90%. From food and beverage to beauty, convenience is an underlying driver for consumers’ purchasing behavior. Delivery partnerships ease our daily lives. Subscription-based products and services were popularized in the mid-2000s and met consumers’ needs for immediacy with curated items delivered to consumers’ doorsteps. Consumers still prioritize convenience and demand quick delivery, but now the focus is on essential goods like groceries, meals, and beauty products. Grocery stores, restaurants, and drug stores are developing delivery partnerships to meet the demand.

GROCERIES AT YOUR DOORSTEP

Aldi partnered with DoorDash to offer on-demand delivery to its more than 2,100 Aldi locations nationwide across 38 states. Albertsons Cos is the first national grocery retailer to partner with Grubhub to offer delivery from nearly 1,800 of its locations. DoorDash expanded its partnership with Wegmans Food Markets and customers across Maryland now have access to delivery. Virginia, North Carolina, New Jersey, Delaware, and upstate New York stores are being added to the partnership. 9amHealth and Instacart partnered to help employers expand access to healthy foods in its diabetes, weight, and heart health programs. Waitrose in the UK has a new partnership with Just East, after the supermarket chain revealed plans to open 100 Waitrose convenience shops.

QSR MEALS DELIVERED

AMC Theatres teamed up with DoorDash to deliver its dine-in menu items at 48 of its 550 U.S. locations and expects the deal to be nationwide by spring 2025. Uber and Olive Garden have entered into an exclusive multi-year delivery partnership for restaurant guests to order on-demand delivery. The pilot will begin in late 2024 with a national expansion expected to be complete by May 2025. Guests will be able to order delivery through Olive Garden’s website and app at more than 900 company-owned locations across the U.S. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen and DoorDash partnered on a wing truck tour for tailgating and football watching parties. On Saturdays and Sundays during the football season, Popeyes offers 25% off its Tailgate Bundle nationwide, including 24-piece wings with up to four flavor selections, three regular sides, and four dipping sauces.

Sally Beauty and Instacart have come together to offer same-day delivery for more than 7,000 products from more than 2,200 Sally Beauty locations nationwide. In the UK, Boots launched an on-demand beauty and health delivery service on Just Eat from 50 Boots sites. Customers can order more than 1,000 Boots products using the food delivery app with plans to roll out the service to 100 more Boots stores by spring 2025.
