Eggs continue to trend. Now plant-based egg products are trending. Like all consumer packaged goods, everyone is working on plant-based alternatives. Eggs are no exception. According to a GlobalData survey, 30% of respondents are either somewhat likely or extremely likely to choose vegan eggs over the conventional variety.
JUST Egg partnered with sous vide foods manufacturer and distributor Cuisine Solutions on the JUST Egg’s sous vide egg bites made from mung bean protein. The products are offered in four flavors: America (roasted potato, dill, chives, red bell pepper, and black pepper); India (curry, broccoli, cauliflower, coconut milk, and lemongrass); Japan (portobello mushrooms, yams, togarashi, soy, and tamari); and Mexico (roasted poblanos, chipotle chile powder, black beans, corn, and lime). Simply Eggless is a “liquid vegan egg made-up entirely of Lupin Beans and other scrumptious plant-based ingredients.” Plant-based brand Crafty Counter has developed Wundereggs, ready-to-eat plant-based boiled eggs. Wundereggs are “treated with high pressure processing (HPP), giving them a refrigerated shelf-life of 90-120 days, and contain a plant-based egg ‘white’ featuring nuts and agar, and ‘yolks’ made with nuts, turmeric, and black salt.” Canadian food tech company Nabati has filed patents for a liquid egg alternative in Canada, the United States, and Australia. The Nabati Plant Eggz is a liquid plant-based egg substitute free of soy, gluten, and cholesterol. Under the Garden Gourmet vEGGie line Nestle launched a plant-based alternatives to eggs, which are vegan, and contain soy protein and omega-3 fatty acids. EVERY ClearEgg is an animal-free, nature-equivalent egg protein, that is a “highly soluble, nearly invisible protein boost for use in food and beverage products.”
